The Art of Bainbridge Island
In a spot as beautiful as Bainbridge Island, WA, it would be amazing if there weren’t tons of artists and artisans. Luckily, our artistic community is thriving with art shows, events, and shops all over the island. Your inner artist will love the opportunity to hone your craft on the island.
Winslow Art Center
Let’s start with a place to embrace your inner artist.
Winslow Art Center Studio & Gallery, created in 2011 by Martha Jordan as a way to incorporate her own love of art and artistic expression, offers instruction for artists of all levels. “My classes and workshops are taught by talented regional artists, as well as internationally-recognized professional teaching artists from across the country and abroad.”
The Art Center offers weekly classes, collaborative uninstructed open studio time, and three-to-five day art workshops in a wide variety of mediums, techniques, and styles.
Jordan recently added a gallery adjacent to the Winslow Art Center where she represents artwork by her teaching artists, as well as emerging local talents.
The center has become an inspiring resource for the Bainbridge art community.
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art
Our very own Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) also hosts classes. Taught by local exhibiting or working artists, past classes have included calligraphy, sumi painting, and paper-cutting. Watch BIMA’s website for updated classes.
The Island Gallery
Internationally recognized artists with pieces from sculpture to wood furniture to paintings are featured in this local hotspot. Watch The Island Gallery website for our current exhibitions, live music events, and performance art.
Roby King Gallery
Visit the Roby King Gallery on the first Friday of each month to celebrate opening receptions for new exhibitions. Wine and art. Who could ask for more?
Seattle Art Fair
The annual Seattle Art Fair showcases modern and contemporary art. A short ferry ride away from Bainbridge Island, the fair attracts visitors worldwide. Last year, exhibitors from 35 countries participated and attendance topped 22,500! Watch for news for the upcoming 2019 festival. Don’t miss this incredible event!
Ready to Create Your Own Art?
The Art Project, formerly Bainbridge Arts & Crafts, is a nonprofit gallery that might be of interest. Newly redesigned, the local artists running the gallery support residents of Kitsap County in their efforts to learn more about their crafts. Free art programs and outreach are widely enjoyed by the communities. Visit The Art Project for information about Art After 60, Art in the Lobby, Creative Connections, and more!
